Concrete plans related to the marine industry were developed during the Maritime Accelerator 2019. Partner companies choose Enjay, Aiforsite and QiO Technologies and presented their co-operation at the international Breaking Waves conference in November. Preparations for the 2020 program have already begun.

Maritime Accelerator co-projects announced at Breaking Waves Conference


The final partners for the 2019 Maritime Accelerator program will be chosen soon. At the Breaking Waves Conference on Nov. 21, the growth companies selected from the hundreds of applicants will be showcased. The program, organized by Turku Science Park Ltd. along with Meyer Turku, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Rauma Marine Construction, connects maritime industry companies with start-ups.


Maritime Accelerator calls for an unprejudiced approach


Aimed at strengthening the innovativeness and competitiveness of Finland’s maritime industry, the Maritime Accelerator programme has started its second season. Awarded with an honourable mention from the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) in Nantes at the end of September, the programme is this year looking for new, innovative companies to co-operate with Rauma Marine Constructions, Royal Caribbean, and Meyer Turku.

Sustainable development and artificial intelligence are also visible in the Maritime Accelerator programme


The second season of Maritime Accelerator has started.  This year the partners are Meyer Turku, Royal Caribbean and Rauma Marine Constructions.

Main partners 2019

Rauma Marine Constructions is a shipbuilding company founded in 2014. Company has specialized in the construction and maintenance of multi-purpose icebreakers, car and passenger ferries, and vessels for use by the armed forces.

Meyer Turku Oy employs 1,900 persons and specializes in building highly complex, innovative and environmentally friendly cruise ships, car-passenger ferries and special vessels. Together with two sister shipyards in Germany, Meyer Werft in Papenburg and Neptun Werft in Rostock, Meyer Turku is one of the world’s leading cruise ship builders.

Royal Caribbean is known for driving innovation at sea and has continuously redefined cruise vacationing since its launch in 1969. The six companies of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. employ 65,000 people from over 120 countries.
